Summer Writing Workshop
"Nothing I accept about myself can be used against me."
- Audre Lorde
Somos Escritoras Latinx Writing Workshop for Latina girls (grades 6-8) to share and perform stories from their experiences using art, theater, and writing as tools for self-reflection and self-examination.

We aim to support Latina girls in continuing to develop their many literacies while learning new tools to speak their truths, define themselves, and amplify their voices within a supportive community of girls and women.

Workshop participants learn about Latinx/ BIPOC history, artists, and authors through videos, presentations, and texts (e.g., poetry, short stories, essays) that examine topics related to culture, language, family, gender, and identity. The workshop includes games, art, and drawing as tools for writing and special presentations or mini-workshops from guest authors, poets, artists, etc.

Our workshops are facilitated in English and Spanish by a team of Latina writing mentors, classroom teachers, college students, and community authors and artists.
