Headshot Instructions

01

Provide a Clear Image

  • Please make sure that your face is in focus.

  • You can check the quality of your image by zooming into your face; if your face looks like you, it's great. If you look blurry/ fuzzy/ foggy (pixelated), please send a different photo.

02

Vertical Image

  • Image orientation is Vertical: Head to Torso.

  • If you don't have a headshot, a torso and up image, or a vertical, full-body, high-resolution (300dpi) image, it will work because the image can be cropped, and your face will be clear/crisp.

  • Please make sure that your face is not blurry/ fuzzy/ foggy (pixelated) (see for more information #1).

03

Make sure you image is well lit.

  • Please be mindful of the lighting.

  • If you take an image in a dark space, your image will look pixelated, even if I try to edit or color-correct it.

  • Lighting is best when it is on your face.

  • Avoid photos with colored lighting.

  • Do not have shadows on your face, as it can blur your face.

    • Avoid having the light behind you. This will result in a high-contrast photo, and your face may appear shadowed and pixelated.

    • Avoid having the light source above your head or below your chin can cast shadows on your face and may not be flattering.

04

Personal Photos & Selfies

  • Stand behind a solid background.

  • Make sure that you have a light on your face.

  • Please, no extreme close-ups of your face (selfies), hand gestures, pets, or colored lights.

05

Image Format

  • JPG or PNG.

  • Please labled your photo with your name (first -last).

06

Submit Photos & Bios via email

  • Please send an email with your photos (as an attachment) and bios either in the body of your email or as a Google/Word doc to somosescritoras@gmail.com

  • Please make sure your bio and photos are labeled with your first name.

  • In the subject of your email, please write "Writing Mentor - <<Your name>> photo and bio.
